T Level Health Student Journey Izzy in the Fal Building, Truro and Penwith College

“I know now that healthcare is where I belong.”

Name: Izzy

Course: T Level Health

Next steps: Considering healthcare routes where she can work directly with people in need

My Story

Izzy joined the T Level Health course at Truro College after visiting one of the college’s open days. She had one clear goal: to make a real difference in the lives of others. With a strong sense of compassion and a natural curiosity for healthcare, she has embraced every opportunity the course has offered her.

The T Level in Health is a two-year course designed to combine classroom learning with substantial industry placements. As part of her course, Izzy has been on a placement with the Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust, rotating across multiple departments and gaining invaluable exposure to different aspects of the NHS.

“The work placement is honestly my favourite part of the course,” Izzy shared. “I’ve been able to work alongside professionals in real healthcare environments, learning how things work on the ground. It’s helped me understand how many different roles there are in health and how each one plays a part in patient care.”

Izzy spoke about the support provided at the College: “The college has been really supportive. The tutors are always there to help, and I’ve grown a lot both academically and personally. It’s a great environment to learn in.”

What truly sets Izzy apart is her passion for helping others. She recently took part in a volunteering experience in Africa, which had a profound impact on her.

“The trip changed my perspective,” she explained. “Seeing how healthcare operates in different parts of the world. It reminded me why I chose this path to help people.”

Now in her second year, Izzy is beginning to explore potential career routes in healthcare. She’s keeping an open mind but is particularly interested in areas where she can work directly with people and continue to make a meaningful impact.
