“Don’t be afraid to choose a BTEC”

Name: Tegan

Previous School: Richard Lander

Next Steps: Gap Year

After achieving an exceptional D*D*D* in the BTEC National Extended Diploma in Manufacturing Engineering and an A* in A Level Mathematics, Tegan is looking forward to an exciting future in the aerospace industry.

Tegan chose to study at Truro and Penwith College because it offered the opportunity to combine a vocational qualification with an A Level, allowing them to develop both practical engineering skills and strong academic knowledge.

Reflecting on their experience at College, Tegan said: “I’ve enjoyed the large campus feel of the College. The Engineering course was very practical and covered a wide range of topics.”

Tegan’s hard work and dedication have earned them an offer to study Aerospace Engineering at the University of Sheffield. Before starting university, Tegan plans to take a gap year and apply for degree-level apprenticeships in Aerospace Engineering to gain valuable industry experience.

When asked what advice they would give to future students, Tegan shared: “Don’t be afraid to choose a BTEC. The idea that they’re the easy option is outdated. They’ll get you just as far in life.”

Congratulations on your fantastic achievements and best of luck with your future career in aerospace engineering.
