What is an ACCESS Diploma?

These Courses provide learners with a step-up to Higher Education by giving them the necessary grounding and qualifications for progression to University Courses. This route provides excellent study skills in specific subject areas, giving people the confidence to succeed.

Why study Access?

  • Develop the knowledge and academic skills to succeed in higher education/at university.
  • Forge a new future with high quality careers support.
  • Meet like-minded people passionate about learning.
  • Excellent levels of personal support and learning support.
  • Specialist equipment and facilities.
  • Flexible learning.
  • Fast-track journey to university. The Diploma is completed in less than one academic year (duration of course approximately 8 to 9 months).
  • Many learners are eligible for full fee remission. If using an advanced learner loan this could be written off after completing a higher education course.
  • An adult bursary is available if you are aged 19+ and your household annual income is below £25,000.

Course fee

If you are 19-23, and hold a full level 3 qualification, or over 24 you could choose to self-fund or use an Advanced Learner Loan (course fees range from £3,022 – £3,928). The loan would be written off on completion of a university level course. If you are aged 19-23 at the start of the course, and do not hold a full level 3 qualification, you could be fully funded for your Access to HE Diploma.

Adult bursary

If your household annual income is below £25,000 you could be eligible for a free bus pass or a fuel allowance, help towards the cost of childcare, a meal voucher whilst attending college and an attendance bursary.
