Now in its 18th year, the Creative Arts Summer Exhibition (CASE) at Truro College continues to be a highlight of the academic calendar, celebrating the creativity, skill and dedication of Art & Design students. Local businesses, art societies, friends and family gathered in the event’s brand-new venue, the Fal building at Truro College, to celebrate Cornwall’s young creative talent.

Featuring the final exam work of the inspiring artists of Truro College and the University Centre Truro and Penwith, CASE presents a vibrant and inspiring showcase of work across a range of disciplines, including Fine Art, Fashion, Photography, and 3D Design. The exhibition offers students the opportunity to present their final pieces in a professional gallery-style setting, demonstrating the breadth of talent nurtured at the College.

Every year delivers a vibrant, celebratory showcase of the artists and designers of the future.

Honza, an A Level 3D Design student, wowed attendees with a striking headpiece inspired by milliner Philip Treacy. He commented: “Made from cardboard and acrylic, it has an Egyptian Pharaoh vibe. I’d never studied art before this course – it’s opened my mind to so many creative possibilities.”

Madi, an A Level Fine Art student, is progressing to the University of Exeter and was inspired by a woodland photoshoot with a friend, Madi said: “I love painting nature and using bright colours. My tutor really pushed me to take risks and explore new ideas.”

The annual exhibition is more than just a celebration, it’s a platform for young artists to gain valuable experience presenting their work, receiving feedback and developing confidence. Many students, like Madi, are now progressing to leading creative universities across the UK.

Arlo Tinson, Head of Faculty for Art & Photography at Truro College, said: “The exhibition is always a proud moment for our department. It reflects not only the incredible talent of our students but also their hard work and willingness to push creative boundaries. It’s exciting to see so many of them heading into creative industries or continuing their studies at top universities.”

As you will see from the images, thanks to Arlo and his team, the future of creative talent in Cornwall is looking bright. With some students already selling and receiving commissions following the show, we know these young artists are destined to go very far.
