Truro and Penwith College has been revealed as a finalist for a prestigious national award, reinforcing its status as one of the top apprenticeship providers in the UK.

The College has been unveiled as one of four finalists in the Apprenticeship Provider of the Year category at the national Apprenticeship and Training Awards 2025 alongside Cardiff & Vale College, Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service and Salford City College Group.

The College is now heading to Westminster having received an exclusive invitation to a Parliamentary Reception at the House of Commons, to celebrate its success during National Apprenticeship Week in February.

The winner of the prestigious and coveted award will be announced at a gala dinner and awards evening in Liverpool on 11 March 2025, at the FE Week and AELP Apprenticeship and Training Awards.

The record-breaking Awards attracted more than 600 nominations from employers, training providers, colleges and universities from across the country.

Run jointly by FE Week and the Association of Employment and Learning Providers (AELP) and delivered in partnership with City and Guilds, the eighth annual awards will celebrate top-of-the-class training, outstanding outreach and exceptional apprenticeship training.

Finalists were selected by a 20-strong panel of judges including AELP’s CEO Ben Rowland, apprenticeship influencer Holly Hobbs, former skills minister Anne Milton and UCAS head of apprenticeships Lindsay Conroy.

Truro and Penwith College is no stranger to national accolades for its exceptional apprenticeship offer as one of only five FE Colleges in the UK to have been awarded ‘Expert Apprenticeship Provider’ status by the Department for Education (DfE).

Hayley McKinstry, Director of Partnerships and Apprenticeships at Truro and Penwith College commented: “We are absolutely thrilled to hear the news that we have been revealed as a finalist for this highly respected national award.

“The College constantly strives to deliver the highest quality, career-driven qualifications and opportunities that encourage our students to Look, Reach and Go further. Achieving a place as a finalist at the national Apprenticeship and Training Awards 2025 is testament to all the hard work of staff, apprentices and the top employers across Cornwall that support our curriculum. We can’t wait to attend the Parliamentary Reception during National Apprenticeship Week and the awards evening in March.

“I’d like to also extend huge congratulations to our employer partners Pendennis Shipyard and WES Engineering Solutions who have also been announced as finalists in their respective categories and we look forward to joining them in Liverpool to showcase the very best Cornwall has to offer”.
