Fabio Zamparelli from Truro achieved a new personal best of 14.74m to win gold in the shot put at the UK National Championships in Coventry, while his 43m in the discus was not far off his 44.21m personal best, and won him another gold.
The F20 classification is for competitors with intellectual impairment.
“It feel’s great,” says Fabio. “If you work hard the results will come. It’s a great honour to get the golds. My future plans are to be F20 World Champion, go to the Olympics, and show the world what I can do.
“Thank you to my Mum, and ProYouth Nutrition, my sponsors. The College has been perfect for me. I’ve met a lot of new friends.”
Steve Kenward, Deputy Team leader for Foundation Studies at Truro College, said: “We are thrilled at Fabio’s success. He is putting the transferable skills he is learning at College into use, with the professionalism he shows. He is a positive role model for other students.”
