This year sees the launch of the only full law degree available to study in the county, at the University Centre Truro and Penwith, on the Truro College campus.
The LLB (Hons) is a one-year full time or two-year part-time programme that tops up the Law Foundation Degrees available at University Centre Truro and Penwith into a full LLB (Hons) Law degree.
‘LLB’ means a law degree, it is the law version of saying ‘BA‘ or ‘BSc’ for other degrees, and stands for ‘Latin Legum Baccalaureus’ which means ‘Bachelor of Laws.’
The course aims to play on the strengths of the University Centre Truro and Penwith, including flexibility of teaching and small class sizes, while staying in Cornwall to study can also save students money.
From school to career, students can get all the law qualifications they need at the University Centre Truro and Penwith, without leaving Cornwall.
For adults who may want a career change into Law but don’t have the qualifications to get there straight away, Access Courses are a great choice, offering flexible teaching on an intensive course that will allow students to go on to a Law Foundation Degree, then the full LLB. ‘Access to Humanities, Teaching and Law’ is available at the Truro College campus.
Andrew Smart, the University Centre Programme Team Leader at Truro and Penwith College, said: “We are thrilled that our Foundation Degree graduates students will now be able to complete their law qualifications to degree level at the University Centre Truro & Penwith.
“The LLB Law at University Centre Truro and Penwith is approved by the University of Plymouth and we are committed to offering excellent teaching and support to a diverse mix of students.
“We provide a great range of courses so people in Cornwall can study what they want while living in the place they love. We look forward to welcoming our first cohort of LLB students in September.”
