Two players, Josh and George, from the Truro and Penwith College Rugby Academy have been named in England Rugby U18, Six Nations squad.
Speaking like a proud dad, Truro College Rugby Academy Manager, Marek Churcher said:
“The prospect of pulling on an England shirt will cap off a very successful year for both, for the College and Academy.”
A third College player Charlie would have made the squad too but unfortunately, he’s injured. Josh and George will wear the red rose with pride in Italy before joining their College team mates to fly out to Japan for the Sanix World Youth Championships.
Both players are part of the five Exeter Chiefs Academy selected to make the national squad for the Six Nations Festival, held between the 26 March and 08 April, in Parma.
Rob Gibson, Exeter Chiefs Academy Manager, is delighted and fully acknowledges getting the players ready for rugby at an elite level starts early:
“Obviously very proud of the lads and a great achievement for us but so much great work supported by the Truro College Rugby Academy that it wouldn’t be possible without them.”
With the senior England team currently playing in the Six Nations catching the country’s attention it’s lovely to see the College is playing a key role in developing England’s future on field talent.
