The College is celebrating its winners of the Rotary Club’s Young Writer Competition, which this year was on the theme of ‘The Environment.

Maddie Vincent, from Blackwater, who studies A Levels in English Lang and Lit, Modern History and Film Studies at the College, won the Devon and Cornwall District area with her winning piece about palm oil cultivation causing deforestation and upset to Indigenousness People, and now goes on to compete in the national competition.
Students Michael Stafford, Lizzie Coad, India Scott-Hollow and Tom Dennett were also awarded and highly acclaimed.
Maddie said: “I didn’t expect to win and I’m really happy. I’ve always been interested in writing.”
The Creative Writing students also had their work projected on to them for photos, to show both the writer and the writing in a vivid way.
English A levels are one of the most popular course choices at Truro and Penwith College, which is one of the largest providers of English A Levels in the South West.
