C&G Level 2 Diploma in Engineering Operations (Skills)

This diploma will provide learners with skills and knowledge they will need to carry out a range of activites associated with the job of an Engineering Operative. It covers the relevant health and safety requirements to ensure that all aspects of the operative role can be carried out safely. Engineering Operations is a practical course, designed to help you gain the essential skills needed to progress to a Level 3 in Engineering and beyond!

As an Engineering Operations student you will take part in hands-on lessons where you will learn how to perform basic engineering skills. We will introduce you to engineering theory and help develop your understanding of engineering processes, tools and equipment. You will cover topics where you will learn more about health and safety, engineering processes and also how to interpret engineering drawings in your work.

What Will I Learn?

The programme is broken down into modules of delivery which are covered during your time at college with your tutor. Learners will complete three mandatory units as follows:

  • Complying with statutory regulations and organisational safety requirements
  • Working efficiently and effectively in an engineering environment
  • Using and communicating technical information

Where Will It Take Me?

Upon completion of the course, learners will be in a good position to progress onto a Level 3 in Engineering Manufacturing Operations or an Intermediate Apprenticeship in Engineering.

Assessment Arrangements

The employer in consultation with the training provider will make the judgement as to whether the Apprentice is ready for end-point assessment through the achievement of the following: Level 2 National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) in Engineering and a recognised Level 2 English and Mathematics qualification. On conclusion that the assessment gateway requirements have been achieved, you will be able to proceed to the end-point assessment stage of the Apprenticeship. It is expected that you will complete the assessment gateway requirements within three months of your planned Apprenticeship completion.

Assessment

Learners will be assessed through projects, coursework, assignments and externally set assessments and examinations.  Success will be tracked though the year to form a final grade, giving UCAS points in the same way as A Level grades.

Entry Requirements

For entry to this programme, you will require Grade 4 GCSE or above in English and Maths. You must have a keen interest in Engineering and a good work ethic. You must be able to work alone and as part of a team and be able to demonstrate commitment to the course.

Additional Information

PPE

We provide all of the tools and materials for the course, however you will be responsible for your own PPE and will be required to come equipped with a pair of steel toe capped boots and a pair of safety glasses.
