“My name is Lisa Briscoe, and I am the Director of Student Experience. In addition, I am the Careers Strategic Lead and chair our strategic group on a termly basis. My role ensures that we are being provided with the latest updates and developments related to Careers Education, Information, Advice, and Guidance (CEIAG). This involves working closely with the local Careers Hub to stay informed about the local labour market, fostering connections with relevant employers, and contributing to our strategic planning.
My primary responsibility is ensuring that our strategy is implemented and executed to the highest standards at an operational level. I also lead outreach activities to secondary schools across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, delivering presentations on course offerings, entry requirements, and making informed choices aligned with career aspirations. I have played a key role in organising post-16 events, where students engage in quick, impactful career advice and guidance sessions, allowing them to connect with and have meaningful conversations with their preferred programme areas and lecturers.
I am deeply passionate about student voice and am committed to ensuring the best possible experience during their time in college. Additionally, I manage the team of student ambassadors who support all our college open events. I also serve as the College’s Strategic Safeguarding Lead, a role that includes ensuring a smooth transition for students arriving from the Isles of Scilly, many of whom are living away from home for the first time at the age of 16. This involves providing the necessary support to help them adjust and feel secure during this important stage of their lives.
My background includes senior management roles in various colleges and a diverse career that spans industries such as sports and leisure management. As a result, I understand the value of flexibility, transferable skills, and the importance of embracing continuous professional development at all stages of one’s career.”
