Simon Evans is a passionate sustainability advocate, serving as the SPF Future is Green Coordinator and a certified Carbon Literacy trainer. With a deep commitment to environmental education and climate action, Simon has dedicated his career to driving positive change in his community.
One of Simon’s most notable achievements was organizing and hosting a groundbreaking Sustainability Conference at the iconic Truro Cathedral, which featured prominent speakers such as Simon Reeve and Chris Hines, founder of Surfers Against Sewage. The event sparked critical discussions on climate change, where Simon discovered the Carbon Literacy Project through Chris Hines’ transformative work.
Inspired by the knowledge gained, Simon swiftly completed the Carbon Literacy course and became a certified trainer. His proactive approach led him to successfully integrate the course into Truro College’s curriculum, engaging Senior Management to highlight its importance in fostering a sustainable campus.
Simon’s impact has been profound. He has already certified 30 staff members as Carbon Literate, empowering them with practical tools to reduce their carbon footprints in both their personal lives and professional environments. His influence has also inspired two additional trainers from his courses, extending the reach of Carbon Literacy even further. His work ensures that more people are equipped with the knowledge and motivation to combat climate change, creating a greener and more sustainable future for all.
