Co-founder of community interest company Circling Cornwall CIC, Richard Clark is keen to work with the community to help develop and expand his new business further. Keeping to his routes in Cornwall, Richard decided that there was a gap in the market for his business locally.
I was fed up of travelling away from Cornwall to work in a field that I wanted to work in, so I decided to set up my own business in Cornwall so I can stay close to my home in Padstow.
He then decided to attend a free Higher Level Skills taster in Leadership and Management to network with other like-minded people and to find out more about what is available at the College. Learning a lot from both the tutor and other people who attended the session, Richard was able to gain a valuable insight into the subject.
Are leaders and managers born or made? I try to switch my expectations every day, but I'm very grateful for what I've learnt here.
With the aim to progress his start-up business, Richard is aware that growth will create the need for recruitment of more staff members and organisational structures across the board. "I just want to be able to manage my time and be able to put people in the right places to do the best job."
