What Will I Learn?

Knowledge

This apprenticeship covers a comprehensive range of knowledge essential for effective primary school teaching. Apprentices will gain a deep understanding of child development, learning theories, and the national curriculum, enabling them to tailor their teaching to the developmental stages and learning needs of their pupils. They will also learn about various assessment methods, including formative and summative assessments, to monitor and support pupil progress. Classroom management strategies are a key focus, equipping apprentices with techniques to create a positive and productive learning environment. Additionally, the programme emphasises the importance of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, ensuring apprentices are well-versed in policies and practices that protect pupils. Training on adapting teaching to respond to the strengths and needs of all pupils is also included, fostering an inclusive learning environment where every child can thrive.

This apprenticeship enables learners to develop the ability to plan and deliver engaging lessons that meet the diverse needs of their pupils. Completing the Postgraduate Teacher Apprenticeship Standard opens up a range of career opportunities in primary education. Apprentices will achieve Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), enabling them to work as fully qualified primary school teachers. This qualification is recognised nationally, allowing apprentices to pursue teaching roles in various primary school settings across England. Assessment Arrangements

The End-Point Assessment (EPA) is a crucial component of apprenticeship standards, designed to evaluate an apprentice’s knowledge, skills, and behaviours (KSBs) acquired during their training. The EPA typically includes a combination of practical assessments, professional discussions, and portfolio reviews, ensuring apprentices are fully prepared for their chosen career. This assessment is carried out independently by an End-Point Assessment Organisation (EPAO), ensuring impartiality and fairness.
