My Story
Bella, who previously attended Truro High School for Girls, is in her second year of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma at Truro College.
“I like the IB because everyone on it is really friendly,” Bella explained. “We’ve become a really close group of friends through the residentials and activities we do together.”
The IB curriculum has allowed Bella to study a broad range of subjects, some of which she didn’t have the chance to study at GCSE level.
“Politics and Spanish are probably my two favourite subjects because those are the ones I want to do at uni.”
“Politics is really interesting because I’ve never studied it before, so being able to study it here on the IB, especially global politics, with less of a British focus, has been really interesting.”
Outside of her studies, Bella is a part of the Colleges’ Netball Academy, one of the competitive sport academies which runs as part of the wider College Enrichment offer. Alongside this, she also plays for Saints Netball Club, who train at the College.
Bella’s advice to new students is to: “Try and get involved in sport if you can – the Netball Academy is really welcoming to loads of abilities and even though I can’t make all the matches I’m still allowed to play and train in the first team.”
Bella plans to progress to university following her time on the IB, with a firm top two choices already in her sights: “I’m going to apply to Durham and Warwick University as my top two choices. Warwick for Politics, International Studies and Hispanic Studies, and Durham for their combined honours in Social Sciences, where I’d do Politics, Economics, International Relations and Spanish.”
