Truro College to Host First Open Evening of 2023

The event will allow potential students from across Cornwall to explore the campus, take part in talks and try their hand at various activities.

Open event season at Truro and Penwith College is in full swing, and potential students and their families will have the chance to visit Truro College’s Open Evening on 12 January. Many activities and talks will be available to help prospective learners decide what course will be right for them.

All of the College’s advanced facilities and equipment will be open and available for learners to explore, including professional level film cameras and studios, music studios, hair and nail salons, electric vehicle labs, construction facilities and much more.

Attendees will also be able to speak with lecturers about the courses on offer and student ambassadors about their experiences studying and what makes the college Outstanding. The brand new ‘Go Further’ enrichment brochure will also launch at the event, allowing guests to find out about the enrichment options available to them to take part in alongside their studies, ensuring the event will be informative for all.

Talks that will be available at Truro College include an Apprenticeship talk, which will inform potential students of the benefits of studying an Apprenticeship and earning while they learn. As well as this, there will also be a University Centre information talk, which aims to introduce guests to the wide range of degree level courses available through the University Centre Truro and Penwith, as well as how the UCAS application process works.

Current Year 11 students will also be able to try their hand at a variety of sports in the Sports Masterclasses. This session with give attendees the opportunity to train with a specialist coach and explore the College’s sports facilities, while also giving them a taster of the College’s Sports Academies. Attendees will need to pre-book for the Masterclass via Eventbrite here.

Careers advisors and the admin team will be available throughout the evening to answer questions, give advice and help with applications to college.

Lisa Briscoe, the Director for Student Experience at the College, is keen to see potential students at the upcoming Open Evening.

“After the success of November’s Open Day, we are delighted to be welcoming potential students and their families once again to our Open Evening. This event will give guests a real feel for college life and will allow guests to meet our amazing lecturers and student ambassadors. We look forward to meeting everyone on Thursday.”

The events provide free parking and doors will be open from 5pm until 8pm. No need to book, simply show up on the evening. More information is available on the Truro and Penwith College website here.
