Preparation for Employment

This pathway welcomes learners at Entry 3 – Level 1 who are undecided as to their career route, may have become disengaged with learning and may need to further their qualifications to progress to employment or further education.

Why Choose This Course?

What Will I Learn?

Your timetable will be designed around a choice of vocational tasters, work skills, maths, English and enrichment activities. You will work towards achieving a Level 1 or 2 in maths and English and a BTEC qualification in Vocational Skills. You will develop the skills needed to secure paid employment and the skills needed to successfully work alongside your peers in a vocational environment. Successful achievement of maths and English will also offer the opportunity to progress to a Level 2 vocational subject here at the College.

Where Will It Take Me?

Following a successful programme of vocational tasters and preparation for employment skills, you will be ready for paid employment. You may also decide to progress to a Vocational Course at Level 2 if you have achieved the necessary entry requirement.

Assessment Arrangements

At the start of your course you will undergo an initial assessment in English and maths so that your tutors will know what you still need to learn and to enable you to be taught at the right level. Your progress in maths and English is examined throughout the course.
