What Will I Learn?

This course is delivered over 3 days a week for up to 3 years. On this pathway you will undertake a curriculum based on the outcomes of your Education Health and Care Plan. Your programme of study will prepare you in developing your independent living skills including community engagement, travel training and preparing meals. Alongside this, you will continue to develop your Maths and English qualifications allowing you to be confident in money management and literacy for life.

Where Will It Take Me?

You may have the option of progression to our Preparation for Employment programme where you will consolidate your learning from your previous study programme and continue to develop your work readiness. Alternatively, previous learners have accessed other recognised supported training and/or supported living whilst engaging with your local community.

Assessment Arrangements

All learners will complete a Baseline assessment which incorporates not only academic learning abilities but also the soft skills we want to develop with our students whilst they study with us. This assessment will be reviewed and work and support will then be adjusted accordingly in line with progress made.

The Pearson BTEC Level 1 Introductory qualification in Vocational Studies give learners the opportunity to acquire and develop generic, transferable and sector-specific skills to complete tasks and demonstrate a level of achievement that enables them to progress to further learning.

Entry Requirements

As the programme focuses on building your skill levels between Entry Level 1 and Entry 3 there are no formal entry requirements. All learners are assessed on their individual ability.

Information & Support

Throughout your course you will receive support from your personal tutor and learning support assistants. In addition, specialist careers advisors will be on hand to support you with your next steps and Student Services are available to offer advice and guidance on finance, benefits and emotional issues. College works very closely with staff at Cornwall County Council who will also be on hand to support your transition.
