VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Nail Services

Upon completion of this course, you will gain a Level 3 qualification in the skills required to progress into the beauty industry as a nail technician. This qualification will equip you with practical salon experience you can carry forward into employment.

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

The topics will include the application of hard gels, gel polish, liquid and powder, electric files, advanced nail art techniques and airbrushing, whilst looking in greater depth at the science behind these services.

The knowledge and understanding of these will be demonstrated through written assignments and practical skills. Assessments to show competence for each technique will be carried out on paying clients in a realistic working environment.

Employability skills and professional standards are a strong focus throughout this qualification allowing progression opportunities on to the next stage of learning within the hair and beauty sector.

WHERE WILL IT TAKE ME?

Our lecturers use current trending techniques to ensure that you are qualified to the highest standard and will stand out when ready to enter the workplace. Upon completion of the course, you could seek employment in a nail salon or spa, become a freelance nail artist or progress onto working in the film or television industry.

Assessment Arrangements

Your achievement in this qualification is dependent upon excellent attendance, punctuality and effort. You will study in a friendly atmosphere using a variety of assessment methods:

  • Most assessments are completed through practical observations of skills and techniques. This will be carried out throughout all your units, as you continuously strive to work towards a competent level of client nail services.
  • You will be assessed regularly on written theory work that may be conducted within the class or as a homework activity and feedback will be continuously provided on your progress.
  • Your performance will be reviewed during 1:1 sessions with your personal tutor.
  • Mock examinations will also be undertaken on each unit throughout your course, preparing you for the next level of development and online exams.

Grading

All units in this qualification are graded Pass/Fail.

Entry Requirements

Completion of a Level 2 course in either Hairdressing or Beauty Therapy.

Information & Support

We encourage you to practice your skills away from College where possible and to utilise the online resources provided by the College for guidance. In addition, we expect you to conduct your own research during set home study activities to enhance your understanding of products and the science behind nail services. However, we will also offer you opportunities to conduct this research at College.

Learners are required to purchase a full kit and uniform upon acceptance on the Level 3 course. Full advice will be given on these before the start of your course.
