What is Health Works for Cornwall?
Health Works for Cornwall is an exciting partnership project which seeks to inspire and support unemployed and inactive people in Cornwall. Truro and Penwith College will provide specific Mental Health support within Student Services and careers and employability support within the Job Shop at the Penwith Campus in Penzance.
Health Works for Cornwall aims to support unemployed or inactive individuals with health-related barriers to employment. It is part-funded by the European Social Fund.
Meet the team
Colin Eddy Project Coordinator: “After spending 20 years as the Head of Careers in a large FE College I decided to retire. It soon became clear that I wasn’t yet ready for that life and returned as soon as I could to find a post which suited my background skills. Working with students with barriers has always been a cause close to my heart. These young people are the future and need to be supported on their journey to adulthood and the project can help with that. There was a time many years ago when I had support and I still fondly remember those who helped me turn my life around.”
Abi Cowls ESF Mental Health Advisor : “I have worked for the College for 3 years and enjoy supporting young people with their well-being to ensure they develop their confidence and have techniques to navigate their futures. I enjoy getting out on campus for walks/talks and doing creative activities."
Bridget Shrosbree ESF Student Support Advisor: "Having worked in the Education sector in West Penwith for many years and having watched these young people grow, I wanted to help them navigate towards a positive and fulfilling future whilst offering them support and advice along the way."
