What is the european social fund?
The European Social Fund (ESF) Operational Programme is part of the European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme for England in 2014-2020. It will deliver the Programme’s priorities to increase labour market participation, promote social inclusion and develop the skills of the potential and existing workforce. It will incorporate Youth Employment Initiative (YEI) money for areas with very high rates of youth unemployment. For more information Click Here.

This project will build upon Truro and Penwith College’s Outstanding Leadership, Management and Coaching offer by engaging directly with SME and micro-businesses to determine their skills needs and co-design bespoke programmes to enhance business sustainability and performance.

Truro and Penwith College is the lead partner in this £6.8m project and has engaged seven sector lead partners to review and revise the local training offer in line with industry requirements.
Truro and Penwith College will maintain the successful Hospitality Table Cornwall and REACH Cornwall activities through the Business Clusters project (details below).
Truro and Penwith College’s delivery partners for the ESF Business Clusters project partners are Cornwall Chamber of Commerce, Cornwall Council, Cornwall Marine Network, Digital Peninsula Network, Kernow Health CIC, Software Cornwall and The Cornwall College Group.

Hospitality Table Cornwall
The Hospitality Table Cornwall project is led solely by like-minded employers from the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Hospitality, Leisure, Hair, Beauty and Complementary Therapies sector. The aim is to create initiatives that increase recruitment, raise aspirations for quality careers and to develop industry-relevant learning pathways to improve skills, productivity and quality.
The project works with local employers to develop and refine our provision for the sector and can offer fully funded training programme pilots, whilst also engaging with young people to inspire and inform the next generation about the different opportunities within the industry.

REACH Cornwall
REACH Cornwall is an employer-led initiative for the ever-growing Health, Social Care and Early Years sector in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly which aims to utilise the knowledge and experience of businesses to identify training needs, shortages and to co-design high quality skills solutions.
The REACH Cornwall forums also enable employers to network and collaborate on wider issues facing the sector, including challenges with recruitment and retention, to ultimately Raise Excellence and Aspirations in Care and Health (REACH).
The project works with local employers to develop and refine our provision for the sector and can offer fully funded training programme pilots, whilst also engaging with young people to inspire and inform the next generation about the different opportunities within the industry.

Through the Employer Led Skills project Truro and Penwith College will deliver effective and impactful workforce development and industry-relevant qualifications for employees within the ‘Experience Economy’; Hospitality, Leisure, Hair and Beauty.
In addition to industry masterclasses and bespoke packages, a 50% discount is available on accredited training, up to a maximum of £500/ learner.
Truro and Penwith College is a delivery partner in the £3.375 million ESF Employer Led Skills (ESL) project, which is led by Cornwall Marine Network and aims to support employers to address identified skills gaps across a range of sectors.

This project will deliver a programme of activities for economically inactive and unemployed young people, aged under 25, that will increase awareness, recruitment, retention and student success for Apprenticeship provision.
Young people will be able to access individual careers guidance, employability skills programmes to support a successful transition into the labour market and financial assistance to overcome barriers to accessing an Apprenticeship opportunity.
The project is led by Truro and Penwith College and delivered in partnership with The Cornwall College Group.
Health Works for Cornwall is an ESF DWP programme for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. The programme is designed to support 5,500 workless individuals where there are health related barriers to employment.
Under Health Works for Cornwall, Cornwall Development Company (CDC) will lead the programme and contract with a partnership of 10 organisations, all of whom have been specifically chosen because of their expertise, based on decades of experience in running programmes with the identified target groups.
Health Works for Cornwall will develop collaborative and innovative solutions that will address the underlying key challenges of breaking the cycle of ill health and/or reliance on benefits that can lead to issues such as low earnings, household income issues, long term unemployment, poverty and debt. This is an employment support programme meaning that the principal goal is to progress participants into work.
Truro and Penwith College will co-design and deliver activities to support students with mental health issues to improve their wellbeing, emotional resilience and readiness to progress into the labour market.
The project is match funded by Cornwall Council.

Truro and Penwith College’s ambitions through this project are to design, pilot and deliver new employer led higher-level skills provision in Space and Aerospace in collaboration with SME businesses involved or interested in this Smart Specialisation sector.
The SS HLS project is led by the University of Exeter and delivered by Truro and Penwith College, Falmouth University, the University of Plymouth and The Cornwall College Group.

This project, which is led by Digital Peninsula Network and delivered by Truro and Penwith College, Penzance BID and the Council of the Isles of Scilly, delivers careers advice, IT skills diagnostics, CPD opportunities and employer-led digital training solutions for employed learners, with a focus on West Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
A 50% discount is available on accredited qualifications, up to a maximum of £500/ learner, through Truro and Penwith College.

The ESF Raising Industry Skills for Employers (RISE) project can offer businesses across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly financial support for workforce development across a range of non-accredited and accredited skills programmes.
Employers can apply for a 50% discount (up to £500 per learner) on a variety of eligible Part-Time and Business and Professional courses, which have been informed by the industry-relevant programmes developed and piloted by Truro and Penwith College for the digital, Health and Social Care and Hospitality and Leisure sectors.
Businesses can also access support through the ESF RISE project for bespoke training solutions and packages that will enhance business performance, productivity and potential for sustainable growth and competitive advantage.

The ESF Skills Help for Individuals and New Enterprises (SHINE) provides tailored careers advice and financial support for employed or self-employed individuals that will improve their professional prospects, earning potential and job security.
The project can also assist individuals who are thinking about starting a business, or who have started one within the last three years, with support to access a tailored skills plan, engage in networking opportunities, receive expert coaching and mentoring and develop a bespoke business plan.
The project is match funded by Cornwall Council and Truro and Penwith College.

This project aims to raise awareness of and aspirations towards higher-level skills opportunities and support mature learners to trial and access learning at Level 3 and above, with financial support to progress on to a degree-level professional short course.
The project is led by the University of Plymouth and delivered by Truro and Penwith College, Cornwall Adult Education Service, Cornwall Film Festival, Cornwall Neighbourhoods for Change and the University of Exeter.
