A week of exciting activities for 12-16 year olds, Monday 29 July - Friday 02 August.
All of these courses are free and take place at Penwith College, St Clare Street, Penzance TR18 2SA.
Class times run from 10am – 3pm each day.

Music live lounge jam
Monday 29 July
Use the college instruments or bring your own to jam with others. Music, chords, and tab will be provided in a range of styles with a lecturer guiding on band line up and song structure. You will have the opportunity to work and listen with new musicians and discuss personal skills with specialist staff to guide you in your musical pathway. Music pod rooms and specialist software will also be available for you to explore and trial, allowing you to gain an insight to the music industry.
Practical film making with SFX and VFX
Tuesday 30 July
Take your film making to the next level by using industry standard techniques. This exciting, practical workshop will show you how to plan, shoot and edit exciting and engaging films that incorporate special effects (SFX) and visual effects (VFX).
You will work with other students as a production team, using a range of camera equipment and practical effects to shoot a short sci-fi film before each editing your own version of the film and adding visual effects. You will get to take a copy of your finished film home.
Pottery
Wednesday 31 July
During this workshop, you will model a creature and discover the nature of the material. You will make tiles and slab pots, imprinting patterns into the clay with organic materials such as flowers, seeds and shells. You will also create a pinch pot vessel and learn to coil.
Games design and 3D modelling
Thursday 01 August
3D design is an important aspect of computer games design today. It is also a transferable skill used in many industries. You will be inducted into 3ds Max and tasked with creating an object and exploring new techniques within 3D modelling.
Sports development
Friday 02 August
You will participate in a variety of skill and coordination games designed to test your reaction time, balance, and agility. The day will focus on improving your physical fitness with enjoyable evasion games and relay events. Team-based activities will enhance problem-solving and leadership skills, while match-type events will promote resilience and communication. These aspects will embody the positive atmosphere we promote here at the College, encouraging you to focus not only on your own individual abilities but also on your cohesiveness within groups and teams.
