Skills Bootcamps are flexible, funded courses of up to 16 weeks, giving people the opportunity to upskill and develop their career or business.
This ten-week Skills Bootcamp in Welding and Fabrication, delivered in Truro and Penwith College’s specialist Institute of Technology facility on the Truro Campus, is ideal for people looking to upskill to enhance their practical skills or to re-train to access employment opportunities in the Engineering and Manufacturing sector.
On 23rd February 2024 Truro and Penwith College will be hosting a Taster Day for the Skills Bootcamp in Welding and Fabrication to provide an opportunity to meet with the tutors, take part in taster activities to get a better understanding of the content and study requirements of the full taught programme content, learn about the benefits of becoming an adult learner at Truro and Penwith College and meet with trained Guidance Officers to discuss career aspirations and any additional support or accessibility requirements.
The ten-week Skills Bootcamp will then start on 8th March 2024 and learners will study a range of subjects that will enable you to develop your career or business, or prepare you for progression onto a Level 3 Metal Fabricator Apprenticeship or further Engineering studies.
Across the ten College-based teaching days, our specialist tutors will develop your knowledge and skills in a comprehensive range of topics including Health and Safety, MIG and TIG welding, Consumables, Components, Gases and Methods for Post-Weld Processes.
Thanks to its accreditation as an approved provider for The Welding Institute Coded Welding tests, learners will also be supported to obtain this highly-valued and industry-recognised certification at the conclusion of the Skills Bootcamp.
You will also benefit from access to industry experts and local employers to assist you with your next steps for employment or professional development.
Thanks to funding from the Department for Education, SME employers will only need to pay 10% of the course fee (£274.50), whilst large organisations will be asked to contribute 30% (£823.50). If you are an independent or self-employed learner looking to re-train or upskill the programme will be fully funded.
