The College is launching the Skills Bootcamp in Welding at an Introduction and Assessment Event taking place on Friday 09 July.
Location: Valency Building, Truro College, TR1 3XX
Date: Friday 09 July
Time: 9am-12pm (for employer referrals) & 1pm-4pm (for individuals)
Two Introduction and Assessment sessions will take place; an afternoon session for individuals and a morning session for employees who are being referred by their employer. Places are limited and the event is free:
The Introduction and Assessment sessions will allow visitors to find out more about the programme, hear from an employer offering interviews, tour the College’s brand-new £7 million engineering and technology centre ‘Valency’, its cutting-edge welding and virtual reality welding facilities and enrol onto the 10-week Skills Bootcamp.
The new trailblazing Skills Bootcamps are part of the Government’s £2.5 billion investment in the National Skills Fund to help adults gain skills to improve job prospects, support economic recovery from Covid-19 and supply future skills that employers need.
Individuals who are unemployed or seeking to change their career can access the 10-week programme for free. Employers can also refer their employees to the Skills Bootcamps, provided they intend to change the employee's job description within six-months of the training and are happy to make a contribution of £540.
The College has developed its Skills Bootcamp in collaboration with local employers and is offering all learners the opportunity to be assessed for a welding code certification worth up to £1,200 in addition to the training. The BS4872 (GMAW Mils Steel) welding code certifies competence in welding for maintenance and will give learners a strong foundation to start their career.
