Ros Atkins hosts his own programme on BBC News called ‘Outside Source’ and visited the College to talk about his own experiences, explaining the issues he faced and overcame when progressing from Cornwall to Cambridge University, and later securing a successful career at the BBC.
Andy Stittle, Quality Assurance Leader for the College, said: “This was part of our very successful programme of events, including guest speakers to support our students in gaining confidence and aspiring high.
“Coming from Cornwall meant Ros’ story resonated with the students present. They were clearly inspired by his talk on commitment and achieving their long term goals which we expect to further increase our already high interest in applications to top higher education institutions and careers. Already this year fifty nine students have applied to Oxford or Cambridge and last summer 307 students progressed to Russell Group universities.”
