Amy knew that she wanted to pursue a science career from a young age and said: “I was drawn to how innovative the engineering industry is and projects that I could work on if I pursued it”. She is excited to be working as part of a team to create a tangible, creative and original product.
To begin her journey to Oxbridge, Amy was supported by her tutors at Penwith College.
Amy said: “I found the mock interviews very helpful. The timing of all the preparation was really well thought out so I didn’t feel rushed at any stage of the application.
“My dream career would be working for a company like Boeing or as an aerodynamicist on a Formula 1 team, because I think I would be well suited to a competitive environment.”
Amy’s advice for new students would be to: “know why you are at College and what your objectives are”.
Overall Amy has had a rewarding time at Penwith college and her highlight so far has been “the Maths and Physics competitions that my lecturers have entered me in. They explore areas outside of the curriculum and force you to think critically and creatively about how to apply what you know to foreign scenarios.”
