Kate’s Story

Following her A Levels at Truro and Penwith College, Kate has decided on Cardiff University to pursue her love of English.

“College is a nice bridge between school and university. It’s a great way for you to gain your independence.”

Subjects studied:  A Level English Literature & Language, Philosophy of Religion & Ethics and History, with the Academic Academy

Former school: Mounts Bay Academy, Penzance

What’s next: English Literature and Language at Cardiff University

My story:

Kate decided to choose A Levels as she liked the variety of subjects on offer at the College and particularly enjoyed studying Philosophy as she believes a social science is a good way to get a wider view of the world. Kate also joined the Academic Academy as something to do outside of her A Level studies.

Kate said: “A Levels were great. They were really enjoyable. Studying A Level History we learnt so much that you don’t do at GCSE. Philosophy helped progress my English studies, which is the subject I love. It was great to be able to learn everything we did.

“I did Academic Academy in the first year. It was very interesting. We had lots of different people from all walks of life come in to speak to us about different subjects.

College is a nice bridge between school and university. It’s a great way for you to gain your independence.”
