"I didn't really consider the fact I could do it until somebody mentioned it to me. I started thinking about it and looking into it properly and I am so glad that I did."

Course Studied: BA (Hons) Business, Enterprise and Leadership
Hometown: Newquay
My Story:
Scott studied at Truro College for his A-levels, so when searching for degrees in Cornwall online, he was happy to find out he could study once again at a familiar place. Scott worked as a supervisor at Watergate bay throughout his degree and was also keen to spend time with family too, so the condensed timetable meant he was able to fit in lecturers around his current lifestyle and made the return to education less daunting.
Scott said: “I was nervous and wasn’t sure what to expect, but the transition wasn’t as difficult as I imagined it to be.
“If the course wasn’t so well structured and condensed in to 2 days I don’t think I would have done so well, especially as someone coming back into education, its been perfect and suited me and what I needed.
“I was interested in business at school, and have always wanted to run my own business and without that knowledge and a degree I wouldn’t have been able to do it, I don’t think I would have been ready.
“It was refreshing to find I could study locally, my degree is going to say University of Plymouth, but I have been able to do it in Truro so I didn’t have to travel.
“I liked having a smaller class than you would at other universities, I wouldn’t have done so well if the opportunities to ask questions at the time were not there. Those opportunities would not have been there in a bigger class.”
Scott secured a placement during his degree at his current workplace, giving insight into how the business runs. He sat in on meetings and his employer gave opportunities for courses, further training and progression within the company after graduating.
