Courses: Level 3 Extended Diploma in Music (Saint Austell College)
My Story:
Tom is 22 and he previously achieved a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Music from Saint Austell College.
Tom studied Year 1 of an HNC Constuction course at Exeter College, University of Plymouth. This was part of the BSC (Hons) Construction Project Management. However, Tom decided to transfer to University Centre Truro and Penwith when he saw the new HNC Construction course on offer as it was much closer to home. He found it more beneficial to study local.
Tom said, “the class sizes on my course are small, in total five in number. This allows close interaction between lecturers and students and also clear instruction.”
Tom finds the course flexible and it fits in well with work and family commitments. He commented, “as a working parent I have been able to be flexible and I have had good support from College when required.”
Prior to joining the HNC Construction course Tom had been full time employment with the Duchy of Cornwall and worked as a Trainee Design Manager.
He advises students who wish to follow in his footsteps to “look into apprenticeships as the way to go and Truro and Penwith College has helped me with this.”
Tom added he finds this new course is “well structured with very helpful lecturers.”
