The role of Associate Director – Occupational Studies is an exciting and multifaceted opportunity, in which we are seeking a dynamic and dedicated individual to lead our Occupational Programme areas including Construction, Automotive, Hairdressing, Beauty Therapy, Hospitality and Catering programmes as well as our Future Skills Teams, in a cross-site role with responsibility across all campuses.
The College has a large provision of occupational areas with approximately 600 students currently studying across the full-time programmes. The Future Skills Programme area incorporates our apprenticeships, adult and project delivery with 420 apprentices, 2000 adult learners and facilitates our funding bids to enable us to invest in our teaching and training provision and update our facilities to support individuals, employers and the wider county. The area also successfully delivers new T Levels in Construction along with a HNC & HND in Engineering.
Truro & Penwith College boasts outstanding facilities including the new for September 2023, £3.8M STEM & Health Skills Centre specialising in the delivery of Engineering, Digital & Heath related qualifications including Nursing. The College is also home of the Cornish base of the Southwest Institute of Technology within the £7M Valency building with state-of-the-art Engineering and Welding workshops combined with Electronics, Digital Laboratories and CAD rooms. The Occupational area encompasses New Electric Vehicle Laboratories and extensive Construction facilities for Wet and Wood Trades as well as a centre for Renewable Technologies in Construction. The College also has two award winning training restaurants and is the home to The Paul Ainsworth Academy.
The Associate Director will be instrumental in ensuring quality of provision within the occupational areas, this includes the curriculum offer and content, teaching and learning, pastoral support, learning resources, recruitment and the overall student experience. It is essential that they lead, support and motivate staff members and build good relationships with stakeholders and employers.
We are seeking applicants with good academic and professional qualifications, appropriate lecturing experience and experience of leadership in an educational context. The successful candidate will be a committed professional who is able to share their enthusiasm with students and staff and has the ability to lead an expert group of individuals to continue to successful deliver and develop a cohesive programme across all courses in the Occupational areas at Truro and Penwith College.
A commitment to curriculum development and a flexible approach to teaching and learning are required. They will also need to work with confidence with a wide variety of ability levels and project enthusiasm for all aspects of the subjects.
