My Story:
Wanting to return to education and looking for a way to fit it around family and work commitments, Jessica enrolled on the FdSc Youth, Social and Community foundation degree on the Penwith College campus. After progressing to the Human Behavioural Studies top up and applying for a work placement, Jessica has found full time employment with a local charity after receiving her results.
She said: “I studied at Penwith because it fit in with my family and work commitments. This is why the course works so well for mature students.”
“The small group size meant that we all formed close connections and got the support we needed from the lecturers too.”
“I couldn’t speak highly enough of all of the staff at Penwith. They are amazing, supporting us emotional and practically. The lecturers I had throughout my courses, Amanda, Rachel and Maria were fantastic, and Helen the counsellor too, they all do so much for each and every student.”
Jessica’s advice to anyone thinking of doing a degree would be “Do it! It has pushed me to realise my potential and it had boosted my confidence”.
