This course is aimed at learners hoping to take their first steps toward a career in any Sport-related industries. If you enjoy studying a variety of topics chosen to help develop your confidence, understanding and abilities and then applying them in and out of the classroom, this progression could be for you. Units you will study are varied and engaging, such as: Sport Participation, Anatomy & Physiology and Coaching. Over the 1-year course, you will develop the skills needed for progression into Level 3 qualifications in different areas across Sport and Public Services.

Practical and Theory
You will learn through a range of methods including practical experiences and theory-based lessons.

English and Maths Skills
All progression 2 pathways will include English and Maths up to Level 2. You will study either GCSE or Functional skills to ensure that you achieve at Level 2.
WHAT WILL I LEARN?
You will learn in a range of methods including practical experiences and theory-based lessons. You will be taught in classroom lectures, practical sport and group discussions using the extensive facilities at the College, including a purpose-built sports hall, fitness suite and 3G astro pitch.
Alongside the NCFE Certificate you will work towards OCN Work Skills qualifications. These qualifications are designed to provide learners with a range of employability skills that are key to preparing them for the workplace and to assist learners in acquiring the skills, attributes and behaviours that are needed to enter and succeed in any future progression routes.
You will study Maths and English for four hours each a week. Progression onto a Level 3 course will only be secured once you have completed the course.
WHERE WILL IT TAKE ME?
Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to progress onto further study, training, or employment having developed both academic and practical skills, allowing you to make informed choices with regard to a career in the Sport sector. You will have also developed academic and practical skills that may be applicable in other work situations.
Assessment Arrangements
All assessment on the Sport programme is internally assessed, however you will be externally assessed for Maths and English Qualifications.
Entry Requirements
You will need three GCSEs at a minimum of Grade 3.
Information & Support
Working within the Student Services area, the Student Support team will see you on a one-to-one basis and offer advice and guidance on financial, personal, and emotional issues. A professional team of staff work together with your personal tutor to support you so that you can successfully complete your course and recognise pathways to progression after leaving.
