Course Studied: FdSc Nursing Associate
Hometown: Camborne
Whats next: Returning to the University Centre for a top up year to become a fully registered nurse
My Story:
Chloe started off as an healthcare assistant at Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust Treliske nearly 4 years ago after being made redundant from the GP practice she was working in. She soon fell in love with working there and wanted to look for opportunities to progress into nursing.
One of the first cohort of nursing associates at the University Centre, Chloe started her foundation degree in June 2020 and is due to get her Nursing Associate Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council later this year.
Chloe said: “I had always wanted to progress into nursing. When the opportunity came up to do the Nursing Associate course I was thrilled”
“What I’ve loved about this course is that I’ve still been able to go to work and learn on the job as well as external placements and come to college part time. This split way of learning has been the perfect balance.”
“The lecturers have showed us all endless support and encouraged us all every step of the way”
Chloe recently got awarded student of the year at Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust after being nominated by her ward manager
She said: “It was lovely to feel recognised at work for all the hard work I believe I’ve put in, not just on the ward but at the University Centre as well. It’s been a difficult 2 years, especially in nursing and something simple like this put a big smile on my face.”
