Dan – BA (Hons) Business, Enterprise and Leadership

Returning to Education with two young children has been hard work, but Dan was delighted when he opened his results on completing his Business Degree.

"There was about 8 in my class, which was perfect, it was enough people to work with but without it being too overwhelming.”

Hometown: St Austell (previously London)

Courses: FdA Business and BA (Hons) Business, Enterprise and Leadership

My Story:

After moving to Cornwall seven years ago with his family, Dan was keen to expand his knowledge and chose to enrol on the FdA Business course before doing his top up degree, BA (Hons) Business, Enterprise and Leadership . His decision to return to education was further influenced by his wife, Mia, who had recently commenced her law degree at the University Centre. This synchronicity not only allowed them to share their academic pursuits but will also enable them to graduate together.

Dan said: “My partner was studying Law and was taking a year out, so if I started then it would mean that we would finish at the same time, so I thought it was a good time to try and now here we are.”

“The courses were flexible and well laid out, well staggered assignments and we always knew what to expect.”

“My highlight was doing my dissertation, I really enjoyed doing that and it was really interesting and was my favourite part.”

“There was about 8 in my class, which was perfect, it was enough people to work with but without it being too overwhelming.”

Advice to others would be “Do it – if you start, you will see how much you enjoy it! It’s not as daunting as you would expect.”
