Course: Access to Science
Progression: Paramedic Science, University of Gloucestershire
My Story:
Before his access course, Danny had achieved his GCSE’s and was working full time in retail. His dream had always been to be a Paramedic, and when looking at the routes into this career, he found that an Access course would give him the qualification and knowledge needed to start a degree in Paramedic Science at his chosen University.
He said: “What I have enjoyed the most, is making lifelong friendships.”
“I’ve wanted to be a paramedic since I was in primary school. Due to personal circumstances, I dropped out of college when I was 16. The access course has allowed me to get back in to education and pursue my career goal.”
“I am not used to sitting down and concentrating for such extended periods of time, but the access course has helped to set me up for University.
“The course helped with improving my ICT skills; prior to the course, I had never even heard of teams. My research skills and presentation skills have also greatly improved.”
