Hiyield specialises in creating digital experiences through bespoke websites and digital apps. Its mission is to make a positive difference to our planet by crafting innovative solutions that align with environmental values. With sustainability at its core, the organisation has also attained B Corporation status.
Hiyield’s Truro and Penwith College apprenticeship programme fosters a positive learning culture for all apprentices, aiming to bridge the skills gap and ensure its workforce is adaptable and well-equipped for the evolving tech industry. Hiyield also encourages apprentices to attend classes and events outside the workplace, to broaden their horizons and enhance their skills.
A shining example of Hiyield’s apprenticeship programme’s success is its recognition at the 2024 Cornwall Apprenticeship Awards, where it was awarded SME Employer of the Year. Two current apprentices, Paige Sambells and Logan Ford, were also recognised in the Marketing and Digital & IT Apprentices of the Year categories.
Hiyield’s commitment to supporting their apprentices is evident in Paige completing a carbon literacy course after managers recognised her dedication and passion for sustainability. This knowledge played a pivotal role in Paige helping the company achieve its B-Corp status.
Hiyield also seizes opportunities to grow its own staff from the ground up. Logan originally completed his 45-day work placement at Hiyield while studying a T Level at Truro and Penwith College and was identified as a potential apprentice for the forthcoming years.
Former apprentice Justin Lipkin has also progressed from full-time College student to Level 4 Software Developer Apprentice and now Full Stack Developer at Hiyield, which is further evidence of the organisation’s commitment to moulding apprentices into full-time employees. Over a few short years, Justin has been on a journey that has seen him run projects worth tens of thousands of pounds.
Laura Hudspith, Head of Operations and Sustainability at Hiyield, highlights the success of Truro and Penwith College’s apprenticeship programmes, commenting: “With two current apprentices and one former apprentice now a permanent employee, Hiyield sees apprenticeships as a strategic way to develop in-house talent.
“Hiyield’s dedication to apprenticeship training and the development of its workforce means it is no coincidence that Hiyield is experiencing exponential growth!”
