Course: Access to Science
My Story:
Miranda was in full time employment at a Dental surgery in Truro, training to be a Dental Nurse when she decided to enrol on the Access to Science course at Truro College looking for a way to further her career. Having previously studied a Diploma in Music performance, it was three years before Miranda returned to education, and upon completing her course, is now more than ever excited for what her future career may bring.
Miranda said: “I decided to enrol on the Access HE Science course so that I could further my career in dental, progressing on from a nurse to a hygiene-therapist.”
“The access course has provided me with the grades I need to apply for my chosen course at university.”
“I have really enjoyed being back in education, expanding my knowledge and working to deadlines.”
“The assignment style way of being graded is much like the challenges I will be faced with at university.”
Miranda’s advice for future Access students is: “The year at college is up before you know it so make every week count, be present, punctual and arrive every day with a positive attitude. Focus on completing one assignment at a time and don’t be afraid to ask for help.”
Miranda plans to study Dental Hygine and Therapy at Cardiff University in the future, but has secured full time employment at a well-respected private dental practice in Cornwall where she can continue training.
