T Level Health student, Sasha, is optimistic about her journey towards a promising career in Healthcare and Special Needs Teaching after being recognised as a finalist in the NCFE’s ‘Against All Odds’ award.
Sasha has received widespread recognition for her perseverance and achievements whilst at College, overcoming barriers she has faced due to her neurological condition, Functional Neurological Disorder (FND).
On why she chose to study T Level Health at Truro and Penwith College, Sasha commented: “I chose the T Level so I could get hands-on experience. I currently have a placement at the Royal Cornwall Hospital and I’m working as a Clinical Imaging Assistant. I love it! All the staff at College have been really supportive.”
With T Levels remaining a relatively new qualification, Sasha was quick to offer advice for prospective students who might be interested in the course or want reassurance as to what a T Level can offer them.
Speaking on this subject, Sasha further commented: “I’m part of the third cohort of students since the introduction of the course. My advice would be to take the opportunity because you will learn so many new things. You will always have a group of people that you can rely on for extra help.”
Sasha’s recent recognition from the aforementioned NCFE is testament to her work ethic and the skills developed during her time at Truro College. The NCFE is an awarding organisation and educational charity who hold annual awards for students across the UK who demonstrate exceptional talent and drive in their vocational and technical studies.
Sasha has overcome multiple hurdles to become an excellent role model for her contemporaries. Offering words of encouragement for those anxious about potential obstacles in reaching their potential, Sasha said: “Myself and others who have faced challenges have lots of skills. We often have the ability and understanding to support people in a different way to others. My lecturers have been really supportive of this”
After completing the final year of her course, Sasha has ambitions of entering Special Needs Teaching. No doubt, her aptitude and determination will propel her into her dream profession.
