Sasha’s Story

Sasha, former T Level Health student, now studying at the University Centre Truro and Penwith College

“My lecturers are always there to help; they’ve been really supportive throughout both courses.”

Name: Sasha

Former School: Penair School

Courses: T Level Health → FdA Childhood Education (University Centre Truro & Penwith)

Sasha began her journey at Truro College, studying the T Level Health course, where she experienced both academic learning and practical experience.

Recognised nationally as a finalist in the NCFE ‘Against All Odds’ award, Sasha’s story is one of resilience, ambition, and a strong desire to help others, particularly those with additional needs.

Throughout her T Level course, Sasha overcame personal challenges linked to her neurological condition, Functional Neurological Disorder (FND). Her determination and focus helped her develop essential skills such as communication, empathy, and resilience, supported every step of the way by college tutors.

“I chose the T Level because I wanted hands-on experience,” Sasha explained. “It’s been such an empowering journey, and the support at college has made a huge difference.”

Sasha became a source of inspiration to others on the course, often offering guidance to fellow students and encouraging prospective learners to take the opportunity of T Level study seriously.

“My advice to others is to go for it. You’ll learn so many new things, and there’s always a support system around you.”

Now, after successfully completing her T Level, Sasha has taken the next step in her educational journey and is studying the Foundation Degree in Childhood Education (FdA) at the University Centre Truro & Penwith.

While her passion for health care remains, Sasha has discovered a new calling, supporting and educating children, especially those with special educational needs (SEN). The FdA programme gives her the opportunity to build on her existing knowledge while developing new skills in child development, curriculum planning, and inclusive education.

“I’ve always wanted to make a difference.”
