My Story
Sinead started her course whilst working as a Library and Acquisitions Assistant for Truro and Penwith College. Through the course, she learned many new skills and aspects of leadership she had not come across before, such as risk assessments, appraisals, and health and safety. Sinead described the staff at the College as “really friendly, approachable and knowledgeable about the course I attended – I knew what the course was, inside and out, before I started which gave me confidence that I could complete it. The support I was given throughout really helped as did the assignment help and resources I was given to go through.
“My tutor, Jo, was excellent at showing us how to break down the assignments and gave us lots of information on where to find what was needed. She explained each section in a very accessible way and answered any questions fully. She was very down to earth and replied to any queries very quickly. I was able to use the intranet resources from the College to find most of the information needed for the assignments.
“I have gained a confidence that I did not have before about leading a team.”
Since completing her course, Sinead has been offered a new role in a more senior position, that she says she would not have had the confidence to apply for had it not been for the skills she had learned.
When asked what the future held, Sinead told us: “I look forward to beginning my new position and, as there are further opportunities in that post to gain promotion, I will look to see if further courses may be available there. Completing this course has made me believe that I may be able to do further training in the future.”
