Enhancing Care Quality Through Clinical Pathways Skills Bootcamp

Completing the Clinical Pathways Skills Bootcamp in Social Care marked a pivotal moment in the professional development journey of four of The Park’s staff, formally Bowden Derra Park Ltd, by equipping them with invaluable skills and knowledge to excel in their roles within the care facility.

As a renowned residential and nursing care facility, specialising in supporting individuals with learning disabilities, acquired brain injuries, dementia and physical disabilities, The Park is committed to providing holistic care and fostering a supportive community for service users and staff alike.

Seeking opportunities for skill enhancement and personal growth, Jonathan Steed, the Director of Care and Registered Manager at The Park, was introduced to the Clinical Pathways Skills Bootcamp in Social Care offered by the Future Skills Institute at Truro and Penwith College.

Covering essential skills and knowledge pertinent to social care, the Bootcamp seemed to be exactly what he was looking for and so he took the steps to put his team on their pathway to personal progression.

Having completed the course, the training has proven to be just the tonic, significantly boosting the confidence and performance of The Park team, empowering them to excel in their roles.

Jonathan commented, “The Skills Bootcamp in Social Care has engendered enthusiasm amongst the team, and they have become champions and ambassadors within their specialist areas.”

Armed with newfound skills and knowledge, The Park’s staff members now feel more equipped to handle diverse challenges, provide high-quality care to residents and effectively communicate accurate and comprehensive information with secondary services. This enhanced level of communication facilitated smoother transitions and better coordination of care.

Jonathan added, “Team members have gained confidence and proficiency in various aspects of care provision, including communication, problem-solving, and person-centered approaches.”

The success of the Skills Bootcamp has motivated staff members to pursue further development opportunities. Some individuals expressed interest in pursuing advanced qualifications such as the ILM Level 5 in Leadership and Management, while others enrolled in the Nursing Associate Apprenticeship program.

The partnership between The Park and Truro College has proven to be instrumental in enhancing the skills and capabilities of their care team. Through the Clinical Pathways Skills Bootcamp, staff members have not only improved their individual performance but also contributed to a culture of excellence and continuous improvement within the organisation. We look forward to the continued growth of our partnership with The Park Cornwall and remain committed to supporting their team on their learning journey.
