Emily Myatt

Emily is the Associate Director of the University Centre Truro & Penwith and is responsible for leading the HE team, course developments and enhancing recruitment, retention and achievement of HE students.

Joining Truro College in 2013 as a lecturer in Biology and module leader for FdSc Biomedical Science, Emily gained valuable experience in both Further Education and Higher Education teaching. Her commitment to education led her to complete a post-16 PGCE, providing insight into the student experience at the University Centre. Emily’s role expanded over the years as she became Programme Leader for FdSc, developed HNC/D Applied Biology courses, and assumed the role of Deputy Team Leader for science in 2017. In 2023, she was appointed as the Head of University Centre and is looking forward to shaping the future of Higher Education at Truro and Penwith.

Committed to ensuring the best opportunities for local students, Emily said: “I am proud and excited to be the Head of University Centre Truro & Penwith and I am really passionate about improving opportunities for local students so that they don’t have to leave the county to gain excellent qualifications and follow their career aspirations.”

“Our applicants are diverse and include school leavers, young adults and mature learners, creating an inclusive and vibrant mix in our classes. This diversity means we are experienced in providing tailored support to meet the needs of our learners, no matter what their educational background or experience of study.”

“Cornwall is a fantastic place to study and provides exciting opportunities for employment in a diverse range of sectors, and our courses represent these opportunities.”

“I am also so pleased to be able to showcase some of the amazing teaching talent we have, our lecturers have extraordinary industry experience, high level research and academic qualifications and teaching experience that will give you the best chance of being successful in your chosen course.”
