Jolene Hogan is one of the Deputy Deans of the University Centre and takes a lead on quality and curriculum development. In addition, she is the Access to HE Diploma Coordinator at the Truro Campus.
Having completed her BSc HONS in Biological Science at the University of Plymouth, she went on to complete a PGCE in Secondary Science at Bath Spa University College and achieved QTS the following year. Jolene taught KS3&4 science at Chestnut Grove School in Southwest London for three years where she soon took on a new role as head of year.
Jolene joined Truro and Penwith College as a biology lecturer in 2007 and gained valuable experience in Further and Higher Education teaching A Level, IB, BTEC, Access to HE and foundation degree programmes of study. For the last 11 years, Jolene has been teaching adults on Access to HE Diplomas and has been committed to offering the best opportunities for adults to return to education and pursue long held aspirations of progressing to university and a new career. Jolene said: “I am proud to have played an integral role in improving the opportunities for many local adult students. One example being the development of the Access to HE Medicine Diploma which enables students to gain a qualification locally that will allow them to apply to study undergraduate medicine.”
Jolene works closely with the careers and employability team and student support team to offer a tutorial programme that focuses on strengthening academic, personal and employability skills and prepares student for their next steps whether that be continuing in education or transitioning to the world of work.
