Progressing Business through Digital Skills is a 3-year project focused on developing a digitally skilled workforce for businesses in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, part-funded by the European Social Fund.

Progressing Business through Digital Skills will support businesses and individuals improve their digital skills and online capabilities through a variety of means, including:

Digital Skills Workshops , training, advice and guidance and qualifications

Truro & Penwith College have developed a range of digital workshops and qualifications designed to support business and employee’s digital skills including

  • Digital Marketing
  • Basic- L3  IT skills
  • CAD Level1-3
  • Adobe
  • CompTIA

The project is supporting small businesses and sole traders in Cornwall & the Isles of Scilly through working with employers to identify where digital skills and technologies can improve their business results. The project aims to support growth for at least 450 small and micro-businesses in the region.

The project offers opportunities for individual employees to develop their digital skills at basic, intermediate and advanced levels, leading to professional growth and improved employability

The £753,784 project has received £603,037 of funding from the European Social Fund (ESF) and is being led by Digital Peninsula Network (DPN) with project partners Truro and Penwith College, the Isles of Scilly Council and the Penzance Business District contributing match-funding.

Progressing Business through Digital Skills has received £603,037 of funding from the European Social Fund (ESF) as part of the 2014-2020 European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme in England. The Department for Work and Pensions is the Managing Authority for the England ESF programme. Established by the European Union ESF funds help local areas stimulate their economic development by investing in projects which will support innovation, businesses, skills development, job creation, social inclusion and local community regenerations.

About the Partners

Digital Peninsula Network (DPN) is a not-for-profit organisation based in Penzance and will be leading on this project. DPN has the largest network of ICT and Digital businesses in Cornwall and is currently a partner on five significant ESF Projects for Cornwall.

Truro and Penwith College is nationally recognised by OFSTED as one of the best in the country with a long track record of delivering apprenticeships and digital training.

Penzance Business Improvement District provides a resourced service for businesses in West Penwith delivering projects and lobbies on behalf of businesses, negotiating the best collective deals.

The Council of the Isles of Scilly's Lifelong Learning is the only establishment on the Isles of Scilly that facilitates post 16 learning with connections to local and mainland education facilities and businesses.
