Subjects studied:  Level 3 Extended Diploma Performing Arts – Performance

Former school: Camborne Science and International Academy

What’s next: Acting school in Liverpool

My story:

Aro enjoys the variety of content on the performing arts course where he studies classic plays from Shakespeare, Ancient Greece and Singapore, as well as improvisation and community theatre. Aro was given the opportunity to perform Lady Bracknell from ‘The Importance of Being Earnest’, a popular play by Oscar Wilde, that has increased his confidence and has improved his communication skills.

Aro said: “My initial choice was going to be my sixth form at my secondary school, but I noticed that there wasn’t much variety compared to the College. I feel like I got more out of this College and this pathway than I would of by choosing any other drama pathway.

“There’s a lot more freedom to College but the lecturers are very supportive. There’s a lot of respect between the students and lecturers because they treat you as adults.

“It’s much more relaxing than school, you don’t have to wear school uniform.

“I enjoy the fact that you get meet so many different people from different courses. You get to know their interests and are driven by their passions.”
