Course: Welding and Fabrication BootcampÂ
My Story:
Charlie decided to expand and weld himself with a new set of skills by enrolling in a Welding and Fabrication Skills Bootcamp at Truro and Penwith College. Â
His motivation stemmed from a desire to take on more responsibilities in his family business, which involves repairs, plumbing, and electrical work. Â
The course itself lit a fire in Charlie. He saw the bootcamp as an opportunity to gain hands-on technical skills that would help him contribute more effectively and prepare for future leadership.Â
Charlie found the course to be smooth sailing, with no major challenges. His family’s encouragement also played a key role, helping him balance the heat of coursework with other commitments.Â
He credited this to the strong support from the college, including accessible tutors and well-structured course content.Â
The highlights of his experience included the engaging course content, which provided practical, industry-relevant training, and the expertise of his lecturer, who created a positive and supportive learning environment. Â
He also praised the college’s fantastic facilities and the collaborative atmosphere among his peers.Â
As a result of the bootcamp, Charlie gained valuable welding and fabrication skills, boosting his confidence in handling metalwork repairs, structural fabrication, and equipment maintenance for the family business. Â
Looking ahead, he is considering further courses in leadership and management to prepare for eventually running the business, as well as additional trade qualifications to broaden his expertise.Â
Charlie’s advice to anyone considering a Skills Bootcamp is simple: “Give it a go! The college’s facilities are fantastic, and the learning environment is excellent, especially for school leavers looking to gain hands-on skills.”
His experience demonstrates how vocational training can bridge the gap between education and real-world industry needs, providing learners with the tools they need to succeed in their careers or family businesses.Â
