Name: Ellie
Subject(s) studied: T Level Health
Former school: Penrice Academy
What’s next: Working as a Healthcare Assistant and applying for a nursing degree apprenticeship
Ellie chose to study the T Level, which combines classroom learning with a work placement, so she could get hands-on with her future career.
“I liked that [the College] was big, it’s a bit more spread out. The College had different options to choose from. We learn loads of different skills, it’s quite hands-on which I prefer, with more practical experience rather than sitting in the classroom. The staff have been really nice and helpful which is good.”
When asked what advice Ellie would give to future T Level Health students, she said to not be intimidated: “It seems daunting at first, but it’s honestly not once you start. As long as you apply yourself you’ll be absolutely fine. Everyone is so nice and helpful and they’re always there to support you in everything you need.”
Ellie is going straight into working in the healthcare sector after finishing her T Level, and has decided to do a degree level Nursing apprenticeship in the future in order to keep gaining experience: “I’ve just applied for a full-time job at St Austell Hospital as a Healthcare Assistant. My plan is to apply for a nursing degree apprenticeship further down the line.”
