My Story:
Eternity has been a dedicated member of the catering industry for several years, starting her training early on in college. Her passion for the culinary arts has driven her to continually seek opportunities to enhance her skills and advance her career. When she learned about the Skills Bootcamp for Future Chef Managers offered by Truro and Penwith College, she seized the chance to further her professional development.
Realising the importance of communication skills in the kitchen, Eternity stated, “Kitchens aren’t just about cooking. You need to know how to deal with people too. Talking and communicating well with others is something that I can struggle with. This course has really helped me to be able to speak, ask questions and not to be shy. Being positive and inspiring others are among other extremely useful skills that this experience has taught me.”
After hearing about the Skills Bootcamp for Future Chef Managers from a previous employer Eternity recognised the potential benefits and decided to enrol, aiming to acquire new skills and enhance her career prospects. The course did not disappoint.
Eternity knew the Skills Bootcamp was something that would aid career progression and she quickly secured a new role within The Ainsworth Collection, where her enhanced skills proved invaluable. She expressed excitement about working under an experienced head chef at the Mariners, where she could apply her pastry skills effectively.
Reflecting on her experience, Eternity noted, “I learnt so many things that I would never have even thought about previously; it’s changed my whole perspective on work life – it’s not just about being robotic and doing a job, it’s about getting in the right mindset and bringing a positive energy to work.”
A significant aspect of Eternity’s success was the support and mentorship provided by the course lecturer, Richie. Eternity highlighted Richie’s dedication commenting, “Richie has been very supportive and really great. If I needed help at all, the support was definitely there. It’s something I do struggle with and Richie has been really supportive and I feel not all lecturers have time to do that to this extent.”
The Skills Bootcamp for Future Chef Managers provided Eternity with enhanced motivation and confidence. The course helped her realise the importance of a positive mindset and the impact it can have on her work and personal life. Her newly acquired skills have seen Eternity progress within the hospitality industry and fulfil her ambitions.
Eternity concluded, “Completing the course gave me something to look forward to. I felt motivated and that I was improving myself in my job as well as general life. It felt very rewarding.”
