My Story:

“I really enjoyed the course”, said James, reflecting on his Level 2 Diploma in Engineering. “It taught me lots of hand skills and a lot of theory on the side as well”.

James found that his lecturers were supportive of his career goals, allowing him to reach his full potential. “I found my tutors very supportive of me. They focused on my future and they tried to push me harder to get better grades.”

James had access to the Institute of Technology on campus in the Valency building, which allowed him to work with state-of-the-art facilities. He said this was the highlight of his College experience so far: “My favourite part of College was probably when we moved into the new building, trying all of the new machines. It was pretty cool.”

James is now moving on to his Level 3 Extended Diploma in Manufacturing Engineering, in the hopes that he can study Structural or Civil Engineering at university.

When asked if he had any advice for new students, James said: “Try and relax a bit more at the start, it’s not actually as scary as it seems. Once you get in for the first week, then it’s pretty good.”
