Course: Access to Creative Arts
My Story:
Katie decided to return to education after having her son, as she was looking to explore what she was really passionate about and decided it was time for a career change. Katie joined the Access to HE: Creative Arts course at Penwith College which aims to build practical skills and creative potential through a series of themed projects, culminating in a Final Major Project and exhibition. Since completing the course, Katie has progressed onto achieving teaching qualifications, helping others find their creative identities.
She said: “As a mature student I have had some great career opportunities within high profile companies, but nothing ever felt like the right fit and after having my little boy, I decided it was time to truly find a career that I love.”
“The Access to Creative Arts course has changed my life, my perception of my capabilities, and allowed me to use my academic and artistic flair to springboard my new career. I have discovered a lifelong passion for Ceramics, Photography, Life drawing and Painting.”
“The Access course highlighted the best in me and gave me the space to understand my next steps in my career.”
“I have now completed my PGCE specialising in teaching Creative Media. I am thrilled about my future as a teacher and artist.”
