My story:
Mila joined the College from the Isles of Scilly and appreciated the College supporting her through her studies, both financially and emotionally. The student experience has also helped Mila with the transition to university life.
Mila said: “I chose both English Literature and Language because I really wanted to gain a broad understanding of the language and how it applies in society.
“Literature helps me to structure my arguments for English Language and the detail that I learned from English Language can really help with analysis in Literature.
“The best thing I’ve learnt in English is how much the language can reveal about a person, for example you can draw aspects of a person’s identity from their speech.
“The advice I would give to someone from the Isles of Scilly who is thinking of coming to the College is definitely do it. The College has helped with my confidence and given me the ability to express myself. I think it is one of the best places to go and it’s a really good transition to university. It’ll give you the opportunity to be independent while also being supported.”
